PALM BEACH COUNTY, Florida – The National Hispanic Energy Council (NHEC) criticized the Biden Administration LNG export study released today, warning that its flawed and politically-motivated analysis will harm Hispanic families, who already face a 20% higher energy burden than non-Hispanic households.
“Instead of advancing policies that provide practical, real-world solutions, this administration continues to favor ideologically-driven outcomes that ignore the consequences on frontline communities. According to published accounts, there was a heavy White House hand on this study by the Department of Energy, and it appears to have been written to provide justification for yet more lawsuits that raise energy costs for all Americans,” said Julio Fuentes, NHEC Chairman and President of the Florida State Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. “It’s galling that many groups claiming to advocate for underserved communities merely co-opt those communities to serve elitist agendas. Hispanic families deserve policies that empower them, not decisions designed to raise energy costs and limit economic opportunities.”
The study risks sending signals that could stall domestic energy development, drive up costs for working-class families, and undermine small businesses. Hispanic households – who already dedicate a disproportionate share of their income to energy – will bear the brunt of these misguided policies.
“The U.S. Hispanic economy is a $3.6 trillion powerhouse, and affordable, reliable energy is critical to keeping that momentum and contribution to America’s GDP going,” Fuentes said. “LNG exports help stabilize prices, create jobs, and reduce emissions globally. Policies that stifle this progress are neither just nor equitable nor helpful to frontline communities.”
NHEC calls on policymakers to reverse course and prioritize affordable, real-world energy solutions that uplift Hispanic families and businesses.

About The National Hispanic Energy Council
The National Hispanic Energy Council (NHEC) The National Hispanic Energy Council is founded on the principle of fair and equitable energy for all Americans, driven by the urgent need to reduce the 20% higher energy costs Hispanic families pay compared to the median American family. Drawing on expertise from across the economy and Hispanic community, we exist to fill a void in advocacy: a voice for energy policies that helps Hispanic families, businesses and entrepreneurs. The Council is building a bipartisan coalition of leaders of Hispanic groups across the country, and exists to educate elected officials, policy makers and the Hispanic public on what good energy policy choices look like.
