Edison Electric Institute’s Kristine Telford appointment to National Hispanic Energy Council Board of Trustees

WASHINGTON, D.C – JUNE 16, 2026 – The National Hispanic Energy Council (NHEC), founded to bring a Hispanic voice to the energy policy debate, today announced the appointment of Kristine Telford, Vice President of State Engagement at the Edison Electric Institute (EEI), to its Board of Trustees.
Telford brings extensive experience in state-level engagement, public affairs, and coalition building. At EEI, she leads outreach to state elected officials and regulators, as well as engagement with external stakeholder groups on issues impacting the nation’s investor-owned electric companies.
“NHEC’s strength comes from bringing together people who understand both the energy sector and the communities affected by energy policy,” said NHEC Chairman Julio Fuentes, who also serves as president and CEO of the Florida State Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. “Kristine’s experience working with state leaders and stakeholders will be a tremendous asset as we work to ensure Hispanic perspectives are part of the conversations shaping energy affordability, reliability, and opportunity. With Hispanic households facing a combined energy burden roughly 42% higher than the median U.S. household, this work has never been more important.
Prior to joining EEI in 2017, Telford worked at several leading public affairs firms in Washington, D.C., where she advised Fortune 500 companies and led high-profile issue advocacy campaigns. Her work focused on grassroots communications, strategic partnerships, and coalition building across advocacy organizations, think tanks, and policy experts.
“Energy policy is at a critical time in our nation as we face growing demand across the nation. Policy decisions made today can have a disproportional impact on Hispanic communities.,” said Telford. “That is why NHEC’s mission is so important. I am proud to join the Board of Trustees and help ensure Hispanic families have a strong voice in the decisions shaping our energy future.”
Telford has been recognized for her leadership in the energy and public affairs space, including being named to Public Utility Fortnightly’s “Fortnightly Under Forty” list and the National Association of Asian Pacifics in Politics and Public Affairs List of 40 Under 40.
She holds a B.A. in Political Science from The George Washington University and completed graduate coursework in International Commerce and Policy at George Mason University.
About The National Hispanic Energy Council
The National Hispanic Energy Council (NHEC) is founded on the principle of fair and equitable energy for all Americans, driven by the urgent need to reduce the 20% higher energy costs Hispanic families pay compared to the median American family. Drawing on expertise from across the economy and Hispanic community, we exist to fill a void in advocacy: a voice for energy policies that helps Hispanic families, businesses and entrepreneurs. The Council is building a bipartisan coalition of leaders of Hispanic groups across the country, and exists to educate elected officials, policy makers and the Hispanic public on what good energy policy choices look like.
